Our first big boat was a Modified H-28 built in 1963 by Far East Marine. Double planked mahagony hull with fiberglass over plywood decks and Honduras mahogany cabin. She was drop dead gorgeous and required massive work to keep  her alive. Took out a weak Atomic 4 (often known as an anemic 4) and put in a Yanmar 11hp diesel. But keeping up with the woodwork kept me from sailing. Picture going up each mast for 5 coats of varnish.

Some holes in the water are bigger than others.

It’s a tough life, but somebody’s got to do it. OK, so it wasn’t work all the time.
